Despite the pandemic circumstances, on the second weekend of August, it was possible for underwater photography enthusiasts from Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Mayabeque, Havana, Pinar del Rio and Matanzas to meet in this last Cuban city to go deep into the sea and celebrate VARAFOTO 2020.
In addition to the provisions set forth in VARAFOTO 2020 Regulations, participants also complied with coronavirus prevention measures in order to compete, train and share their diving experiences.
In this occasion, with the sponsorship of the Flora and Fauna Company of Matanzas and the Cuban Federation of Subaquatic Activities attached to the provincial INDER, the habitual friends of diving and snorkeling that for four years have been meeting in Matanzas, the event agglutinated more lovers of the sea and explored this time the salty waters of Coral Beach and El Mapita in Carboneras, belonging to the Maya Lagoon Fauna Refuge.
Thanks to these dives, we can delight in the sight of aquatic species and the marine environment that each lens testifies. At the same time, we are left with the challenge of preserving the marine ecosystems and coral reefs, so essential to life on our planet.
